Mandatory Recount on Amendments A and C
11/4/2004
According to the unofficial November 2nd General Election results, Constitutional Amendments B and C passed, Constitutional Amendments A and D failed. However, the votes were so close, within the 1% recount variance, on Amendments A and C that a mandatory recount is required. All precincts must be recounted since this is a statewide race.

Whether a constitutional amendment passes or fails is not determined by a simple majority of the vote on the amendment. To pass, a constitutional amendment must receive a "yes" vote from more than one half of all the people who voted in the election, not just on that particular question.

Secretary of State Meyer stated, "Remember, all county's results are unofficial until canvassed by county canvassing boards."

The Goshen County Clerk's office is working to get the recount results and will post them as soon as they are finalized.
